Funny viewpoint

I got caught up in the serious viewpoint of the Inquisition, volunteers and fundraising, the time dollars monster again, and got rapid feedback that I was off track. I've returned to the funny viewpoint, to live in and promote funny world, but with a difference.

The pure funny view makes building funny world the sink, and the struggle to escape from serious world is also a major sink, but what then? We've seceded from serious world to amuse ourselves, a hedonistic dead end. This impression is apparent from the start, and will turn off most people.

If we make the time dollars economy a sink, then funny world appears to have a purpose, doing good in serious world. People will feel much better about this.

I said a sink, not the sink. The funny viewpoint places it outside funny world, over the horizon somewhere. If we're serious the Inquisition drags us over there to do time. If we're funny we don't have to go there, but can still feel good that building funny world contributes to reforming serious world.

It's the charity ball model (1335), and we're out for fun while we contribute to our favorite good causes. That's my position, and I'd much prefer to build funny world than time dollars. I left time dollars on an old website and will come back to it only if dragged by the Inquisition. I almost went back there with pride, see what a great serious contribution I have!

Back in the 1990s when I was developing time dollars, I soon got bored with it, and preferred the more radical idea of personal currency, which is now funny money. I should continue to put funny money first, and if it's not funny let it turn into time dollars. The model of building funny world with funny money will come first, and we'll learn how that works. When we fail to meet that high ideal, and the Inquisition calls us back to serious world to do time, we'll know how time dollars works.

Serious people will be quite happy to do time, and see that as the purpose of the operation. Funny people will want to get back to funny world. Serious world will encourage them. Yes, we need more funny world, to attract and reward more volunteers. More funny money, because some of it gets turned into time dollars. More funny people, who may never have to work again, and feel they're having fun in a good cause.
