Must be funny survival rule
We're trying to start up a funny world, and we're short of funny stuff, of course. So the main industry in funny world is funny production. At first it's a struggle just to stay funny, and that's where we learn our chops. Later we may have funny to spare.

By necessity, must be funny leads to a funny production imperative. It's a survival rule for this algorithm, and beyond survival it becomes a growth rule.

We have to get serious about funny production. It's our job in funny world.

The growth rule in turn has to be limit-checked. I'd considered channeling excess energy into good works, as in funny fundraisers, as in converting funny money to Time Dollars.

No way. Must be funny says we keep reinvesting in the growth of funny world. It says we can never be too funny.

Well, if it happens, I'll be there with the Time Dollars.

No, this meme is intent on world domination. If it can grow its economy fast enough, it will eventually overtake the serious economy, or take it over from bankruptcy.

OK by me. I certify this killer meme as wholly beneficial and maybe our only chance at a future.

Hmm. I guess the taboo subjects are all out there in the story, so long as the whole thing is ridiculous. Give the biggest whoppers up front and they'll never believe them again. Until they happen.
