Must be funny. That's a tough position. A major discipline. A religious restriction. It can put a funny man in role reversal, protecting his virtue (we can't have sex until we're funny) from a date who just wants to get her rocks off. No, actually it is a gentle position. The man falls back to the female pace. And it destroys the old rules. That's why the serious newcomer is given the god role, or sovereignty. The funny person cannot impose new rules. Conversationally, the funny person shines by breaking the old rules and entering new territory. That draws serious people into this funny world, so much more interesting than the same old stuff. Then, given sovereignty, they
feel the power of new choices. They're not bound by the old rules
anymore.
