Using Humor/Tossed in Space

Play.

When did we get so serious?

Stuart Brown says play is more than fun

A pioneer in research on play, Dr. Stuart Brown says humor, games, roughhousing, flirtation and fantasy are more than just fun. Plenty of play in childhood makes for happy, smart adults -- and keeping it up can make us smarter at any age.

Fool's gold and funny money

Some say we can't build a new funny economy without hard currency, and fool's gold fills the bill. Our official funny geologist, Donald Roth, says it can be found at the old Senator Mine. We're in the right place, Prescott, Arizona, founded as a mining town in the 1860s, with hundreds of abandoned mines in the area. We can organize funny treasure hunts.

Fool's gold is iron pyrite, FeS2, forming cubic crystals. Our funny coins will be cubes and used as dice. Fans of Luke Rhinehart's The Dice Man (Morrow, 1971) will know that dice throws can send us in random directions and generate funny chaos.

Oh, now I get Bizarro's May 19 cartoon. Bizarre coincidence.

Funny dice

Dice and funny. I never put them together before. Dice are strong medicine, dangerous, not for everybody. But must be funny can make them safe. Whatever we ask must be funny.

Drugs, prostitution and cycling

What exactly does Dutch tolerance look like, in an everyday way? Three things come to mind: drugs, prostitution, and cycling. In the Netherlands, all three activities are legal. All three can easily lead to happiness, provided that certain precautions are taken. Wearing a helmet while cycling, for instance.

Fool's paradise

Fool's paradise is an excellent goal, surely the highest realm of funny world. While it's commonly regarded as inferior and delusional, we know funny is the highest. If we should stumble upon paradise we can't stop there, but must press on until we've made it funny. .

The Catholics have already colonized this area:

Limbus Fatuorum:

The Limbus of Fools, or Fool's Paradise. As fools are not responsible for their works, they are not punished in Purgatory, but cannot be received into Heaven; so they go to a place called the Paradise of Fools.

Finite and infinite cheats

Funny consciousness is like kids cheating the system. It's bad and nothing special, other than how good we are at getting away with stuff. It's our secret, potentially infinite. Sex, drugs and rock 'n roll may be carriers, but it goes beyond that.

Any finite cheat or benefit is not enough in itself, but a secret system of unlimited benefits is experienced as transcendence, as becoming infinite, even before actual application.

Getting your way with triple logic? That's too abstract. It would need a specific application in everybody's life. The promise of an infinite secret is broader, and raises our consciousness before we do anything with it, an instant reward..

Then we can enjoy funny communion over our infinite joke, and look no further for satisfaction.
